Welcome New Faculty!
My name is Dr. Barbara A Clarke, and I warmly welcome you to the New Faculty Orientation at Â鶹ӰÊÓ! Please plan to attend the New Faculty Orientation on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. via Teams.
In addition to the New Faculty Orientation session via Teams, all full time faculty are invited to self-enroll in the Essentials for Instruction course in our Canvas learning management system (LMS). New full-time faculty will need to enroll in the Essentials for Instructing during your first semester of teaching. The asynchronous Canvas course has modules highlighting the supportive departments and leaders of Â鶹ӰÊÓ and is designed to orient you to instructional competencies as Â鶹ӰÊÓ Faculty. A badge credential is provided upon successful completion of the orientation course. You either have or will receive an email invitation to join and start the course in Canvas. Part-time (adjunct) faculty are encouraged speak with their supervisor about enrolling in the individual Faculty Development courses (numbered 1-5), available to them in Canvas.
As a member of the Organizational Development and Learning (ODL) team, I invite you to attend the numerous faculty development sessions we host for your professional growth. The schedule of professional development (PD) opportunities can be found on the Center for Learning Excellence webpage. You will receive updates periodically throughout the year inviting you to professional developments - sign up for PDs you find of interest. We are a college dedicated to supporting the professional needs of all employees.
Of special note, adjunct faculty who attend at least two sessions on our official CLE Calendar receive the Adjunct Teaching Institute Stipend of $50, paid by our Â鶹ӰÊÓ Foundation. We remain focused on topics aligned with the college’s strategic goals of institutional excellence, student success, and academic excellence; for example, improving instruction, online teaching and culturally responsive classrooms, among others.
Â鶹ӰÊÓ faculty members consistently say our students are an exciting learner population. Our diverse population of students with varying perspectives and life experiences enriches the entire Â鶹ӰÊÓ family. To meet the needs of our diverse student community, please review Â鶹ӰÊÓ’s Strategic Plan. If you have questions about our Strategic Plan for serving each student under a One-College model, I encourage you to discuss it with your supervisor. I am also available for any questions on professional development opportunities as a member of the ODL team.
Welcome to Â鶹ӰÊÓ!Dr. Barbara A. Clarke
