Cosmetology (Continuing Education)

Short Term

The Cosmetology course is designed to educate students in the theoretical and practical skills, the safety precautions and measures, and the proper infection control and disinfection procedures to obtain licensure in the state of North Carolina. The skills obtained will allow the student to obtain an entry-level position in cosmetology or in a related field. Coursework will cover the latest in scalp treatments, roller sets, finger waves, pin curls, artificial hair, haircuts, coloring, highlights, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, facials, and hair removal. Students will then be able to put their new skills into action by working on clients in the College's Cosmetology clinic. After passing the course, students can sit for the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts licensure exams.

This is a 4-part course. The $4611.00 cost of the program is broken down into four payments. The first payment of  $1,909.25 is due at registration. This price includes tuition, a kit, and books. The second and third payments are $891.25, the fourth payment is $919.25. This course qualifies for financial assistance.

Students must wear a uniform of navy blue scrubs, all-black shoes, and a Â鶹ӰÊÓ ID that identifies them as a student.

As part of the program, students develop skills by providing services to the public. View the Cosmetology Salon hours, services, and scheduling information. Cosmetology program students complete 100 percent of the work under instructor supervision and offer services at a reduced rate to employees and the public.

COS-3201CA Cosmetology I

Cosmetology I is the first of four courses in the Cosmetology program and will cover subjects such as infection control, professional image, bacteriology, shampooing & conditioning, and hairstyling. Students will be introduced to the student salon clinic. Completion of all courses in the program will educate students in the theoretical and practical skills, the safety precautions and measures, and the proper infection control and disinfection procedures. The proficiencies acquired will prepare the student to achieve licensure in the state of North Carolina and obtain an entry-level position in cosmetology or in a related field. COS-3201CB Cosmetology II

Cosmetology II is the second course in a four-course program and will cover subjects such as infection control, permanent waving, relaxers, hair color and haircutting. Students will be performing the complete service and servicing clients in the student salon clinic. Completion of all courses in the program will educate students in the theoretical and practical skills, the safety precautions and measures, and the proper infection control and disinfection procedures. The proficiencies acquired will prepare the student to achieve licensure in the state of North Carolina and obtain an entry-level position in cosmetology or in a related field. Cosmetology III is the third course in a four-course program and will cover subjects such as infection control, natural hair styles, facials, hair removal, hairstyling and performing the complete service. Students will be performing the complete service and servicing clients in the student salon clinic. Completion of all courses in the program will educate students in the theoretical and practical skills, the safety precautions and measures, and the proper infection control and disinfection procedures. The proficiencies acquired will prepare the student to achieve licensure in the state of North Carolina and obtain an entry-level position in cosmetology or in a related field. Cosmetology IV is the final course in a four-course program and will cover subjects such as infection control, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, business and professional ethics. It will also prepare the student for the written and practical final exams and the state board written and final exams. Students will be performing the complete service and servicing clients in the student salon clinic. Completion of all courses in the program will educate students in the theoretical and practical skills, the safety precautions and measures, and the proper infection control and disinfection procedures. The proficiencies acquired will prepare the student to achieve licensure in the state of North Carolina and obtain an entry-level position in cosmetology or in a related field.
