Whitney Young, MPH, Paramedic

Whitney Young HeadshotWhitney came to 麻豆影视 in 2020 to serve as the coordinator for the Community Health Lab. She grew up overseas in Costa Rica where she learned to appreciate diverse cultures and developed her passion for helping others. Whitney earned her Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and holds a Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University. Clinically, Whitney maintains an active NC Paramedic credential. She has experience working in education, emergency medicine, and the nonprofit sector over the last 20 years. She is dedicated to incorporating students of all types into the program because she understands the value and impact of gaining in-person experience. Whitney has a passion for advocating for marginalized populations that struggle to find appropriate resources and health care. This includes the uninsured/underinsured, immigrant and refugee populations, children, the LGBTQ+ community, and those from low-income backgrounds.


Karim Glover, NC LDO, ABO-AC, NCLEC

Karim GloverKarim first came to 麻豆影视nical Community College in 2001 as a student, beginning a journey that merged his love of optics, his passion for teaching, and his commitment to service. In 2024, he returned as a full-time Instructor in the Optical Program, teaching the applied science of Opticianry, He also serves as the Mobile Optical Services Coordinator, leading outreach efforts through Project SIGHT. With over 25 years of experience in the optical industry, public service, and education鈥攊ncluding his service in the U.S. Navy鈥擪arim brings a practical, compassionate approach to instruction and outreach. His teaching emphasizes technical expertise, attention to detail, and patient care, preparing students for real-world success. Through Project SIGHT, Karim helps expand access to optical healthcare across 麻豆影视 and surrounding counties, connecting underserved communities with essential vision services. He is especially committed to equity, inclusion, and building pathways that connect education with community impact.
